When I was in Malaysia during the Asia leg of my world tour, I had an opportunity to check out the MOBE head office and film studio.
Located in the Kuala Lumpur SOHO Center, the MOBE offices are only a few blocks from the Petronas Twin Towers, and my hotel. The walk from the Mandarin Oriental to the SOHO Center takes less than ten minutes. Well, it would have taken less than ten minute if the hotel doorman didn’t send me off in the wrong direction.
There were a couple of reasons why I wanted to visit the MOBE office. The first is to show you that MOBE is a real company, and not just a URL. MOBE has experienced some amazing growth in the past year and now employs over 100 people. The second reason for the visit was to make use of their film studio to create some branding videos.
Why Is MOBE Headquartered In Malaysia?
Many people are surprised when they hear that MOBE is headquartered in Malaysia. Most assumed it was done because of the country’s territorial tax system. That’s only part of it. The main reason for locating MOBE in Malaysia is the entire population speaks english. You will have no trouble communicating in this Asian country. Also, the minimum wage in Malaysia is only RM900 per month. That’s about $210 USD. You can hire a lot workers at those rates!
